Making a miniature nursing cap for dolls can be a fun and unique way to add to your doll’s wardrobe. In this tutorial, we will show how to sew a nursing cap for your dolls.
Materials you will need:
- Cotton fabric
- Small piece plush fabric
- Tools:Needle,Scissors,Thread
- Measuring tape or ruler
We also have a free sewing pattern template here. Depends on the size of your doll, you can adjust the pattern to meet your needs.
Step 1: Measuring and Cutting the Fabric
Measure the circumference of your doll’s head and add 1 inch to that measurement. Cut the cotton fabric piece according to our pattern template. You will need to same pieces.
Step 2: Sewing the Cap
Place the two pieces of cotton fabric together, with the right sides facing each other and sew around the edges. Leave a small opening unsew for turning the fabric out.Fold the fabric as shown in the following photos, and sew the edge together with small, tight stitches.
Step 3: Creating the Brim
Fold the top edge of the fabric down by 1/2 inch and iron it flat. Fold the same edge down again by 1 inch and iron it flat again. Pin the folded edge in place and sew around the edge with a straight stitch.
Step 4: Attaching the Ribbon
Measure a piece of elastic that is slightly smaller than the circumference of your doll’s head. Pin the elastic to the bottom edge of the cap, making sure it is evenly distributed.
